Our Facility
Ziggy's Haven is located on 12 acres in north central Florida.  We purchased this
property in November of 2005 and moved here in February 2006.  The property had
2 large pole barns with concrete floors and plenty of large trees making it an ideal place
for parrots.  Through your generosity we have been able to build several flight habitats for the birds
in our care.  There is still so much more to be done but we work on it as funding becomes available.  
Once we began construction on the outdoor flights and began allowing the birds to be outdoors most of the day we found that the birds absolutely
flourish in an outdoor setting.  Most of our plucker's stopped plucking their feathers and many of the behavior issues disappeared.  The birds
absolutely love being in the rain, sunshine, fresh air and among other birds.  This is one of the many reasons we have chosen to provide
sanctuary only.  Most of the birds are outdoors year around, weather permitting of course!  
At this time we have 16 outdoor flight habitats and day cages constructed.  Our 8 larger flights provide plenty of room for our flighted birds that
get along well with other birds while the smaller day cages provide our indoor and handicapped birds the opportunity to get out daily to enjoy the
sunshine and fresh air.  
Our cockatoo flight is our most recently completed flight
and is home to several species of cockatoos.  
Cockatoos and macaws are the most often placed birds
in our experience.  We have had much success with
our cockatoos in both behavior and plucking issues
since allowing them the joy of being a bird!
